Question Looking at buying a 98 TA

Hey guys, im lookin at a 98 ram air TA and i was wanting to hear what you guys thought.
It has a set of new vette wheels with new tires, t-tops, leather interior, its an automatic, its been repainted black its not the best paint job but it looks decent. It does have some flaws, it has a pretty nice dent in the quarter, the right brake light is cracked, the bumper is cracked by the fog light, the window tint is startin to peel, the driver seat has a chunk out of it where it wraps around, the wipers stay up when you turn them off and it has 165,000 mi. on it!!
It runs good, idles good, dosnt smoke, shifts good, the oil is clean, seems to drive good. He wants 7000 for it but i think i can talk him down a lil. I really want a TA. I know this 1 isnt the best but i think it might be a pretty good start. Tell me what you think. Thanks.

For everything that is wrong with it that price is too high, honestly I would save up some more money b/c for around 9k you could get one with like 90k+ miles on it that has original paint and in much better condition.....

price it way to high for the mileage and other stuff. you can find much lower mileage and better condition for that price.

yeah... there's also usually 14k mile 02 ta's for $28k because they're "rare collector cars" on there. the prices you see usually aren't the prices the cars sell for.

$6k would be as high as i'd go on it, strictly because of mileage.

yeah, ls1's last a long time... but that is on its last leg, period. if you're going to daily drive that car you'll probably get 2 years out of it at best before you're replacing/rebuilding the motor and/or other large components.

Yea it would pretty much be a daily. I offered him 6500 and he said if i had it by mon. he would take it. There is a warranty he offers that i could buy and the best 1 is a 48 mth. plan and it covers pretty much everything and allows a $100.00 an hr. labor rate. The The company is called C.A.R.S (Complete Automotive Repair Services) Ive not head of it til now and i was asking around and heard it was a pretty good deal. For that warranty it was 1700. But I've been looking on here and there's some nice cars that's pretty close to my price range. Id like to have an 01-02 WS6 A4 Black With T-tops, Or a firehawk.

Sorta off topic, I dunno how long you've been looking for a T/A, but don't get something for the sake of getting something. I know it gets frustrating, I looked for a year for a Trans Am, thought I'd never get anything, at one point I was going to get a Camaro, but had an older friend tell me not to settle for something, it does seem like that car has had a lot of abuse. Stick it out, keep looking, you'll find what your really want eventually.

I paid $7k for a 98 Z28 with 114k miles on it about a month ago. It has two spots in the paint and the fascia's cracked where it was bottomed out plus a crack in the windshield and that's all that's wrong with it. I'd keep looking unless you could get it for maybe $5k.

I would pass on that car as well. Back in Dec 06, I paid $5500 for a 98 Formula w/ 122k on the clock. Three things were wrong w/ it; Fog lights inop, Headliner/Sun Visors Sun Rotted & Stereo/Steering Wheel ***** worn. Sounds like that car has had a bit more damage to it plus its got 165k miles. If you wait it out, you can find a deal. I wasnt even in the market for another Fbody when I saw the deal on the one I own.
