Any ticks, clicks, popping and noises like that.Cracked dash.Any vibrations while driving(make sure u take it on the freeway)Some issues almost always have to be addressed after really digging into a car.just my .02
Not to say u dont already look at this stuff, but as long as u get a good read on the engines condition and drivetrain......its an LS1,if u want one bad enough, keep looking until u find the seemingly most mechanically sound.

If it's an A4, powerbreak it and see if it misses. That's how I ruled out a lot of the Fbodies I test drove. The above info is good. As for the oil pump issue.. no. And it would be an issue with ALL fbodies alike. There's no variation between any of them mechanically that would make any difference whatsoever.

Some of the '98-00 LS1s did have oil pump failures. The '01+ F-bodies received the revised LS6 pump, so that is not a concern with the newer one.
But I wouldn't worry about that much. It was a VERY small percentage of pumps that failed. I've had a '98, '99, and '00 LS1 myself, and none has ever had an oil pump issue.

Smell the Trans fluid if its an A4 make sure it hasnt been cooked, i try and check the pinion seal on the rear end if its leaking. I now go overboard and check all lights, windows, speakers.. windshield wipers... because Ive bought and assumed that some stuff should just work... and it doesnt ...
