Removing a 6 point weld in roll bar from a 2001 SS Vert?
I was hoping to get some advice from the board.
My Dad has his eyes on a low mile 2001 SS Convertible with M6.
The car is very clean and has some nice SLP factory options.
The previous owner had a 6 point roll bar welded in and sub-frames welded on.
My Dad definitely wants the roll bar removed but he's not sure what would be involved and what the cost would be.
I presume the bars could be cut at the base flush to floor and then ground down flat. He would probably need to replace the carpet as well.
What do you think this would cost and can it be done?
Should he walk away from it?
I have included 2 pictures so you have a better idea.
Thanks,
Zak

Check the bases to make sure they are indeed welded in. Some of those are bolt-in kits. If it is welded, it needs to be cut out and ground smooth, and yes the carpet needs to be replaced.
Any shop with a plasma cutter , torch, sawzall, or cutting disk should be able to remove it.
