Default Which should I get???

Well I got 2k and some change to spend on an upgrade. What do you think is the best thing to put my money toward?

Poll between: 12bolt rear w/ 4.10 gears or TR224 @112lsa Cam package

Which do you think is better to get? (I might get heads w/ the cam also)

hands down 12-bolt...I wish that was the first mod I had done. The cam package I had installed was great and was a lot of fun but at the same time I was always weary of launching the car from a stop due to the fragile stock 10-bolt. Either way you will be happy, but with the 12-bolt (or 9 inch) rear you will be setting your car up for future mods as it would suck having the heads/cam package on your car but not be able to drive it due to a blown rear end.

That's a nice mild cam and with your setup I'll bet it puts you right around 380-400whp especially with a tune. As long as you aren't doing 5k clutch dumps on DR's I think that your 10 bolt can last a long time! If it ain't broke don't fix it! Do start saving for your 12 bolt though.

If you want a track car (which it doesn't seem like you do with the tr224), then I change my mind.

i got that cam and i am very worried about breakin the rear. but on street tires i dont think itll be that bad. but also the price diffrence is a lot if u got the $ now for a 12 bolt id just do that man. then when u get the heads and cam u can launch that beast like its sposed to

I might add an underdrive pulley for the power loss through the 12bolt.

WIth a cam that mild i would chose the cam......as long as you stay on street tires your rear should be ok.

Again it all depends on your goals. If its a roll racing beast your looking for go heads cam and as long as your not launching it it should hold together. It sucks though having a whole lot of power and not being able to put it to the ground until your in second gear at 40+ mph. It seems you decided on the 12-bolt, which is the best choice IMO, especially if you plan to add a ton fo power down the road. Plus, you cant beat the feeling of lauching on the street with some nittos and 4.10 gears...talk about getting thrown back in your seat.

Get the 12-bolt first and you can get the H&C as finances allow... But if you get the H&C you'll be shopping for a 12-bolt the first time you get traction...lol

Your in the same position i was back in december. I decided i would go ahead and do the cam first, since i dont do much launching from a dead stop, and even if i do, on street tires all it does is spin. But now the weathers getting warm, the streets are hotter, and my 4.10s are staring to whine

Well guys, I got a chance to test drive both setups. I must say the rear w/ 4.10s made the biggest impression on me. Did a couple of 4-5k clutch dumps and that was all it took for me.LOL Plus I like how the car pulls hard through 1st and 2nd, it really put me in my seat.

The cammed car was the 224 w/o heads sadlly, but I could tell the power was there but the car didn't do well w/ the stock rear to me.(mostly traction problems)

Best thing about getting the rear is that I have the relo brackets and tubed LCAs waitng to be installed. So my traction should be killer!!!

Well I just came across a FTRA kit and I'll probably go get a pulley to put a lil power back into the car.
