i dont knwo of any sure way but i have found that the original SS hoods first off have a very good near perfect fininsh on the underside that is not as common on the aftermarket hoods. also on the back side of the hood at the very front of the hood the whole leading edge should be smooth and have a even gap as it wraps around the hood i havnt seen any aftermarket hoods that have this anywere near as nice as the factory yet. i know this isnt a exact way to figure it out but it will give you a idea i guess. if the underside is rough and unfinished look no further its not a OEM

You may also be able to tell if it's factory if it has the the factory catalyst tag on the underside.

When people talk about the GM SS hood or the SLP SS hood or the GM/SLP SS hood, are we talking about the same hood? Did GM manufacture these hoods or did SLP?- or did both? I've always been confused about this.

SLP Made all of them

The SS camaro was essentially a Z28 that was modified by SLP. Thats why they have a tag saying their production #.

SLP Produced the hood + spoiler.

SLP did all of the firehawks, and SS's from '91+

on the driver side, where you bolt the hood strut, underneath should have an engraved number/letters
