how do u know if its a real ss??? besides the hood, wing and 17 inch wheels how do you know if its a real ss. i got a v6 camaro with the ss hood and wing and get mistaken for an ss alot...untill i hit the gas. a buddy of mine bought a camaro that had all the features of a ss. he bought it used not from a dealer and it was modded. its been wrecked and needs some work. what to look for in a true ss???

you mean by just looking at the vin right? because I ran the vin from the car my ecm and ls1 came from on VIS and it showed it had the rpo for an SS no y2y though.

If it is a way to track records from the last digits of the VIN then I will have to change my mind to say that you can indirectly tell if it has the SLP SS option. This tracking is obviously not in the normal scope of a manufacturer VIN and would have to be part of a third party service. Is that what VIS is? All I can find on the net is VIS Racing....
