Center console rattle

Center console rattle I've had a rattle coming from my center console area and I've had a really hard time tracking it down. After using dynamat all over the area behind the stereo and making sure that all the wires back there were secured, it's still happening. Now I think that it might be coming from the center console between the ash tray and the cup holder. I can't figure out how to make that any more secure and fix this damn rattle... can anyone help?

It had broken apart where it's melted together from the Factory and the lower piece was cracked, so I took it out, took a piece of Alunimum and riveted it in the front section where the crack was. That took care of that and made it look cleaner than it was.

I have a maddening intermittent rattle coming from the console area that I finally diagnosed, but it is unfixable. It is in the shifter assembly itself - maybe inside the shift lever. It makes a loud tapping sound.
I tried everything imaginable, thinking it was my console. Then I figured out how to induce it with the console off. Sometimes I can stop it by applying pressure to the shift lever when driving. But that's all I can do. It's the one thing about my car that makes me insane.
