Default lid or volant intake

I have a 98 TA with a ram air hood. Does the volant intake make any more hp than a lid with a k and n filter? I was thinking about getting the volant because it looks awesome and seems like it would make more hp. I found the volant intake for $260 and a lid with k and n for about $150-$165. So the volant seems like like it would be worth it if it makes a little more hp. What do you guys think?

Lid all the way, get an SLP I think they fit the best. But if you dont want SLP a lid is a lid is a lid, there all the same. Volant may give you the same increase if not less from what I have read. Good luck

Go with an SLP lid....tons of people use them and you really can't go wrong with one. The difference between the stock and SLP lid is the SLP lid is much more free flowing and direct...and eliminates the baffles/resonator of the stock lid, which disrupt airflow.

+1 on the SLP lid. I wouldn't buy anything else from SLP though. You should look at the MTI clear lid with blue Holley filter. That setup looks bad ***!

if you flip over your stock lid and see all sorts of plastic baffles (for lack of a better description) that obstrucks air flow. a lid will be smooth with no baffles inside. this is worth about 7 plus rwhp! i have an slp, i've seen a clear lid and thats kind of cool looking. a magazine tested lids and they all came out about the same for hp gains. also a free mod is cut the plastic base under the air filter. this picks air (from in front of the radiator) this mod is called free ram air. i chose to get an slp cold air box which installs in that same place. some people like the super sucker ram air but if it rains you'll have to deal with water going into your air filter. just my 2 cents.

I actually think my SLP lid fits like ****...I'm kinda pissed about that. I'm not entirely convinced that the drivers side is even sealing at all. I got the lid with the filter and all direct from SLP too.

Get a lid. It doesn't really matter which one unless you want a clear one.

You're probably seating it wrong. It needs to sit back behind the lip in the front. It is hard to explain, but when installed correctly they fit like a glove.

It's a negligible difference. $250+ vs. less than $100 for similar gains. Volant intake may be worth an 0.5 extra HP. You would be better off doing a lid and cold air intake set-up such as FTRA or BGRA*

*not being produced anymore
