Default Rear End?

I have a stock 3:42 rear end and i'm pushing 400-410 rwhp. I was told to take it easy with that much power and with a stock rear end. I've heard of Moser 12 bolts, and that they go for about 2 grand. What other options do i have?

narrowed 9 inch rear, will allow for a wider wheel/bigger tire. At 400-410 rwhp i would just say go easy on the stock 10-bolt and it will last for a while. My 370+ rwhp cammed car is still working on the stock 10-bolt and drives fine (sold the car but know the new owner). As long as your not tossing on sticky tires and doing john force burnouts the 10-bolt will last a decent amount of time.

Well i have 315's, Nitto 555r's, on the back. I would like to eventually take it to the strip to see what it runs. I would also like to practice my launching, but i'm afraid of breaking something back there..

Just save some money up, those rear ends have blown up on stock cars before. some last a while, others dont. but sticky tires are a good way to guarantee it breaks sooner, lol

12 bolt, 9 inch, and S60 are the aftermarket rear ends.

A 9 inch is the most popular choice to put behind a manual car.

They all cost roughly the same, from $2,200-$3,000 new depending on what kind of options you go with. Check out our gears section and search for more info there to find the pros and cons of each.

yah i just blew out my stock rear end (10 bolt). i had 4.10's plus around 500 rwhp and bfg drag radials. my rear end lasted me about 8 months on that set up. You shoud go with a moser 12 bolt or a beefed up 9in (indestructable and could handle anything lol)

The 10-bolts strength is really hit or miss on our cars. I have friends that BEAT THE **** out of thiers running drag radials on 4k RPM launches over and over again who have NEVER had a problem with it, while another friend of mine broke his coming off a launch at IDLE! Some people get lucky and get one that holds up, others dont. lol

The problem is, youre never sure which one of those people you are until you are forced to call a tow-truck to pick the car up!
