Default dumb question... no oil when engine sitting

I'm in the middle of doing some work on the engine, but i worry about everything. Is there any problem with letting the engine sit without oil in it for a few days? I obviously wouldnt be running it (i wont even be turning the crank at all by hand)... but can this hurt anything? Laugh if you want, i was just curious...

Shouldn't be. I have a friend rebuilding an 80's el camino and he's got an engine half torn down and no oil in it.

no problem, some people store cars in the winter with no fluids in them at all (coolant, brakes, oil, clutch...)

Just to inform you...it is no different than your car sitting that long without cranking...the oil settles into the oil pan after a few hours. The oil pump only works when the car is running and that is what delivers the oil to the heads and pistons....your car will last quite a while with no oil in the pan....I wouldn't advise cranking it but you can turn the crank with no problems..
