Default noob lid ?'s

I just bought my '99 WS6. I'm looking to do the most mentioned beginning mods-which one is to get slp, whisper etc. lid. Currently I have no lid. Just the two air filters are showing. Is this better? Or should I buy a lid? Thanks a lot!

If i am thinking of what you are thinking of i am almost positive what you have now for your ws6 hood is a better set up and will allow more air flow. Do LT's Exhaust to help it breath better and sound better to.

currently-i have slp exhaust and headers. the car is VERY loud. she is lowered about an inch and a half. i don't know what type of TB i have but it's not stock. I'm on the right track by getting 4.10 gears next? I also want to get a short throw shifter-but not sure which best one to get? I DO use this as a every day driver fyi.

LOL! I think you have that... Gah, what is it called...

Are they are two big conical filters in a half-box?

If so, NO. Don't change them. They are supposedly the best induction for a WS6. Damnit I forget what they're called. Something-something ram air.

Did you not ask the guy you got this car off of what he had done to it?

BMWXXX87, can you post pics?
If you see the filter with the hood open, either the lid is missing/damaged -or- (more likely) you have an air box that mates with the ram air hood which is better than a regular lid.

Yes- that's exactly what it looks like. So I guess I don't have to worry about a lid.

And yeah I asked the guy what he'd done to it-but I've learned a lot in the last couple weeks through threads-and at the time-I didn't really know what he was talking about anyway.

Thanks for all this help- my TB is blue and says TBYRNE Motorsports-so obviously this is not stock.

Any other suggestions are GREATLY appreciated!

Like I said- 4.10 gears are next on my agenda.

Yeah, that's the Volant Cool Air Intake. Keep it. Sounds like the guy who had it before you knew what he was doing.
