ok unfortunately new york state law says i need catalytic converters on my 98 SS...im looking for high flow cats...any suggestions where to get them cheap?

Buy a cheap set, gut them, and have them welded in. Toss on 02 simms (which im guessing you already have) and your good to go. Trust me there is zero chance of them being able to tell if the cats are gutted or not. Now if they do a sniffer test thats another story but if it is just visual then go with gutted cats.

Here they dont do a sniffer test but they will check to make sure they are there (most of the time). I just give the guy a $50 and tell him to keep it as he is getting ready to pull my car in.. It always takes care of it.

my problem with a mannix cat,it wont grow a tail,so i cant stomp on its tail with the sharp end of the broomstick!works ok on other cats though.

I just used a loudmouth muffler as a dummy cat(looks like a high flow aftermarket cat). As long as you're smart you won't get caught

I always go on the last day before they close down for christmas.. when everyone else needs to get their car in before the end of the year deadline. It's busy as hell, and you have to wait forever. Thing is, the techs see it too, and they want to get home for the holidays and vacation, so they speed everyone through. My codes are all cleared, and when they are rushing like that, they don't look under the car.

Its good to have Michigan plates and live in Louisiana nothing beats it and don't have any test. I would just get some and have them gutted
