++ use the search button ++ anyways, what you are getting is computer aided gtear selection (cags) it helps us avoid the gas guzzler tax.

the fix is very simple

goto radio shack and get a $2 pack of 1/2 watt 2.2k resistors

crawl under your car and on the transmission (drivers side) disconnect the little wire harness that is closest to the front of the car

bend the wires on the resistor into a u and insert it into the connector (which should be dangling at this point) and electric tape the **** out of it (tape your new cags eliminator somewhere out of the way)

tape the **** out of the connection on the trans and your done

or, if you want to take the easy way out you can buy an eliminator for aboout $30

Yeah in 4th gen M6 F-Bodys they have computer aided gear selection. The first time it did that it confused me. Its supposed to aid fuel economy so that the F-Bodies wouldn't get the gas guzzler tax.

However, if you plan to get a tune of your car sometime soon, the tuners will tune it out of your system...just a thought

Just go to installuniversity.com. They have a write up on the resistors you need and a complete installation guide of how to do it.

When the skip shift light is on, is the gear stick supposed to be completely locked from being able to shift into 2nd gear?

If you're able to still shift into 2nd when the light is on, does that indicate damage?

The guy I bought my car from had the skip shift eliminator listed as a mod, but apparently, it stopped working. Because, I still keep getting the skip shift light on and it locks me out of 2nd and 3rd. I just give it a little more gas or press in the clutch until it turns off, then shift though. It kind of annoys me though.

What happens when you try to shift into 2nd? Is the gear stick prevented from rotating down, or does it set in, but the gears don't mesh?

I did a quick search on Yahoo! and found a tutorial for installing something that removes something called 'CAG.' The light will still come on, but you're able to shift. I'm praying this is the case with my TA because I can shift into 2nd when the light is on. I was afraid that whatever is supposed to lock out the non 4th gears broke and I'm shifting into 2nd inapprotiately and damagingly.

With a skip shift eliminator the light will still come on. Only by turning out via LS1 Edit or HP Tuner will the light cease to come on.

yea what it does is it sees you cursing it first. all you have to do is give it some more gas and go off and let you shift in to second.
