Electric Cutout worth it?

I picked up a used QTP cutout off of here and bought the actual 3" stainless steel cutout from QTP, i used my own wires and switch so all in all it cost me around $160 plus installation cost of $75 (including the tip) from Meineke. I did feel a gain bypassing my Flowmaster and the Fiancee and friends all love the sound. I also love the sound when you get on it and im on all stock exhaust.
I would say go for it and honestly I never even close the damn thing but I too am waiting to install an MS3 cam with supporting mods and exhaust and then I will probably be closing it next to a cop lol.
Some pics:
Never realized how nasty it is under there but it is my daily driver.

I have a DMH electric cut-out right before the muffler, my car is a 2000 z28 A4 - stock and it sounds mean as hell, even driving it easy in town... and i have been pulledo ver for it once also. I Think its a excellent mod! if you were to get one ide prob get teh DMH not the QTP, the DMH comes with a 4 year anything warranty and i believe is the same price.($179) as far as weldign in pipe for it just take it to your muffler shop, theyl charg you $30 is all, and then all you do is bolt the cut-out to the end of it. Then pull the wire through the flood gromet in the bottom of the car and route the wires under your carpet to your cig lighter, i then tapped all the wires for it into my cig lighter wires, and ran my switch right under my steering wheel nice and flesh in the underdash.
Install took me maybe 40 mins, at a lazy pace

I think the general thing is...if you are running one of the more poor flowing mufflers, you will see a good gain on the dyno.
My exhaust flows pretty free even without the cut out open. LTs, smooth ORY, to magnaflow. But I still have one...if for nothing else, they are a blast!
I love cruising down the highway with it closed...then having someone pull up next to me to fool around. I get some classic looks when I open it up and all hell starts to break loose.

I have a hooker aerochamber after ORY and pacesetter LT's and 224 TR cam. Dyno results were the exact same cut-out open as it was closed. No gains whatsoever. Still really happy I went with it.....sounds mean as hell open!!!! Sounds like a damn stock car wide open.

You might not see too much power gains. I have a friend who did dual E-cutouts on a Magnum SRT model (6.1L Hemi) and he really didn't gain hp. DMH Electric-cutouts are the best if you do go with a E-cutout. I just got one for my Dodge Neon SRT and love it.

I had a qtp for about 3 years and then it finally gave up the ghost. Well worth it on the borla but for 160 i can climb under the car and take off the 3 wing nuts on my cut out

Do you seem to have any probs with exhaust leak sound when its closed? I just bought a brand new one off of a guy for 25 bucks. it came with the car and had never been ran and he just didn't want it so he hooked me up. I am just worried that when i close it I am going tot have an exhaust leak because maybe it won't seal all the way. just wanderin.....

I have no issues with my DMH leaking. Although, its so loud that I probably wouldnt notice anyway. haha. I tried to cover both tail pipes to check for leaks, but its difficult. I dont think it leaks though. If it does, its a teeny tiny bit. Small enough not to even notice.
