Default you guys would know best...

am i wasting my time owning a lt1? i love the car, and the power over my old iroc-z, but im seeing how the mods for it still are more money for not so big gains. i dont know much about ls1s but it seems like its so much cheaper to make them go so much faster. i could sell this car and take out a loan for a ls1 car pretty quick.... is it worth it?

If you can get rid of the LT1 pretty quick and get a decent price for it I would do it. LT1s are a great car, but stepping into the LS is where its at. And the aftermarket seems bigger for it right now.

I agree with this guy. I've had both, a 97' Z28 and a 01' Z28, the LT1 is a great engine, but the LS1 is just flat out better all around. Stock for stock, my LS1 would kill my LT1. As goes for modding, the LS1 will stomp the LT1 in every category. And I don't know why a lot people think the LT1 will get the LS1 off the line, the only thing I see the LT1 doing better is getting traction sooner, cause of less power.

I recently made the switch to the LS1, and I am GLAD I did. For me, the LT1 was a good starter V8 Camaro, but the LS1 is so much nicer and is actually more reliable from what I hear. You will not regret getting an LS1.

The reason they think that is because GM put that retarded bs torque rating on it of 325@just 2500rpm or whatever it was....

Ditch the LT-1. I've had both, and these LS1's are just retarded with the dollar to horsepower gains. Better sound too. And best of all....you get rid of that confounded opti spark

Like most of these guys, I have owned both. A 94 Z28 and my 01 SS. I have a soft spot for clean LT1 cars, but no matter how you cut it LS1s are the way to go, hands down. Buy an LS1, you wont regret it.

You beat him, you didn't beat the car. Cars don't drive themselves.

if i was you and had the time money and know how i would just do an ls1 swap to your car. Going by your sig pic your car looks really bad *** and i love that color. Looks pretty rare. think about it.. that way you can still keep your car if it has any sentimental value to you..

agreed, if at all possible do the swap...also have had both, but i still miss my lt1 car even though my ls1 is far more reliable, less prone to problems, easier to work on, and faster....

although i dissagree with ls1's sounding better, lt1 sound ***...

The LT1 cars are fun, and there is no shame in owning one. The LS1 cars are def. a nice upgrade over the LT1, but I wouldn't say that the LT1's are junk. I guess it really just comes down to your budget and goals (much like any car). Your current car will still destroy your driver's license and still responds reasonably well to mods. If you can afford it and want to make the jump, then go for an LS1 car. If you aren't ready yet for financial or other reasons, then lay tire in your LT1 and hold your head up high.

Like everyone said - keep the LT1 if possible. If not, sell it and get an LS1! I've had both and the LS1 is superior. LT1's have a steel block which means they run at a higher temp and are much heavier than the LS1's aluminum block.. and yes, dollar for dollar you'll go faster modding an LS1 over an LT1 cuz LS1's respond to mods WAY better than LT1's.. This may sound discouraging but LT1's are still bad to the bone too! hope we helped

LT1 or LS1....either way, it's an easy way to humiliate a factory 2v Mustang....
