Default Help with exhaust!!

Hey i recently bought a 2001 ss and im looking to get an exhaust now. im thinking about either a LM 1 or LM2 but cant decide. im in college now so its not my everyday driver but i go home frequently to drive it so i dont mind if its obnoxious loud since i wont drive it everyday. i want a really really loud sound but also deep. ive seen other posts about the LM1 being louder but raspy. ive listened to ls1sounds but its not the same as in person so just asking for ur input. those of u who either have either of those systems or have heard them please help me out. thanks

A friend of mine had LM1 on his stock y-pipe/manifolds and it sounded REALLY good...until he got headers then it was obnoxious and horrible.

The LM2 is a deep and loud setup. I love mine!

I have LM1 on stock y and manifolds its loud and sounds great inside the car but outside its more raspy and doesn't have the kind of tone I like. I'd go for LM2s if I could go back and change it. But its all up to you, do you want loud and raspyer or deeper with more tone but quieter?

I plan on also puttin on some LT's so i was thinking about true duals as well but i have read about the difficulties of passing the pipes with the rear axle..is this a real problem?? also anyone have suggestions for long tube headers?

LT's with no Cats and an LM1 has a very high pitched nasty sound. most don't like it.

LT's With Cats and an LM1 sounds a lot better but True duals with an H or X pipe are the best. Most TD setups are dumped at the axle. If you want them extended all the way to the back it will be custom done and it will be a tight fit.

If you want a crazy loud race car sound put small mufflers on the collectors of the LT's with no H or X pipe.

LT's and TSP TD's. I have kooks LT's, catted Y and a LM2 and wish it was a lil louder sometimes. I thought the LM2 on stock manis was fairly tame.

There's been countless threads on the differences between TD's, LM1, and LM2. 20 minutes of searching will get you a long way with this topic. But it sounds to me like you want what the general majority of others want when they put on lt's, and that's a loud, deep tone without the rasp that a LM1 gives you. So, if I were you I'd look into:

- TD setups with an H-pipe and Flowmaster 1-chamber mufflers
- catted- y pipe with a LM2, Flowmaster, GMMG, Bassani muffler (or something similar)

a Borla XR-1, Dynomax bullet, LM1 will be a step above the rest in both loudness and rasp in the 2-3k rpm range.

Dont forget about Magnaflow!

Out of those, if you wanted loud and obnioux, go with the LM1.

go to magnaflows website and look at some of their stuff. They have some sound samples with LS1 F-bodies in there. Just throwing that in there too. They have great exhaust systems and I'm very happy with all 3 of my magnaflow exhaust systems on my Camaros.

- TD setups with an H-pipe and Flowmaster 1-chamber mufflers

^^^

Exactly what I have and couldn't love it more!

Most people don't have those three things (TD's, H-pipe, and Flowmaster 10 series) so it's unique AND it sounds AWESOME!!!!

Deep tone, not raspy at all, and Loud when you get on it!

+1 on flowmasters, I just have cat back Flowmasters I bought used off of ebay for 50 bucks, got them installed for 80.They sound great! A lot of people stay away from them because they believe their car will sound like a Rustang, but it won't because of our bigger displacement. Now Im planning TD's with an H-pipe.
