Default Much sound change when headers are put in?

With any exhaust with any headers does the sounds change much? Does it get deeper or anything? Oh and since im still deciding which exhasut to buy when i get a t/a here within the next month... what is YOUR favorite sounding exhaust? LS1sounds doesn't quite live up to your professional opinions.

Oh yes, headers and exhaust will change the sound a good bit. It will get louder, how much depends on what you get. I have RKsport shorties w/ no cat and a Magneflow catback and it is awesome. Car is not to loud at idle and cruising speeds, but get past 2500 and it starts to really tell you it is back there.

I have corsa and kooks lts and with its wayyy louder than stock. It sounded cleaner and louder than stock with just the corsa back there, alot like a corvette exhaust actually. With the headers, it's noticably louder at idle, cruising and WOT.

You'll love it and you'll feel the low-end tourque difference too.

Headers will make it LOUD. I've always been a fan of headers, no cats and dumped. Can you say NASCAR?

My LM2 was great at idle and WOT, but driving it around it was raspy and it had a lot of drone at highway speeds.

The headers made idle deeper, WOT insane, and driving around was sex to the ears.

I'll go out on a limb and assume this may be the case for most bullet-muffler systems. I wish I had gone true duals from the get-go, but I can live with what I have now.

I also still have cats on my TSP Y, but they are high-flow.

Well open headers is a glory all in of it's own... but as far as hooking it back up to the muffler... mine got louder but had more of an "airy" sound to it below 2500. I was on a 3" ORY... maybe it had something to do with my flowmaster but past 2500 it sounds great. I'm soon replacing the muffler anyways.

longtube headers with cats and the factory exhaust won't sound too much different. Longtube headers without cats and the factory exhaust will sound much deeper than stock.

That is with the Y2Y 3" SLP exhaust, did the 2nd combo on three different cars.

You will also hear more valvetrain/engine noise under the hood with headers. tick tick tick tick tick...

As far as catbacks go, I just put on my TSP rumbler and I love it. Idle is deeper but not really louder, but as the rpm's increase it gets loud and sounds mean.

headers alone should make the car sound louder and deeper in tone. Depending on what you want, the rest of the exhaust can change.

if you want it loud get a cam swap, pick one with a tight LSA and high duration it will double to triple the noise level
