Picking up my SS tomorrow or Wednesday.
So I'm picking up my SS in the next two days. It's an 01, black on black M6. I'm really excited. I'll be sure to post pics.
My question is, what kinds of stuff should I do as soon as I get it?

take pics of it and post.... nah jk lol. Well, kind of a broad question. Narrow it down a bit. I would definately get a lid (our intakes) and an exhuast. I got mine close to stock and look at me now..... broke as a joke but with a bad *** car.

Yes, I am new to F-bodies. I previously drove an Integra and currently a Prelude. I'm so happy to be leaving the world of Hondas.
The owner told me that needs to be done. lol Good thing is that she said she used Mobil 1 every 5000 miles.
Good Call
Lol, my friend said that. I'm too broke right now though.
Just has gutted cats, everything else is stock.

So somebody gutted the cats but left the exhaust otherwise untouched?
Well in that case a catback (or a cut-out) is always my first mod followed by suspension (LCA's and brackets, SFC's, TA, PB)

J/K!!! Just kidding, guys.......and ladies. I've got nothing against women driving an LS1 if they know what they're doing......although, I question the 5,000 miles thing.
Definitely do all the routine inspections (fluids, etc), and definitely post some pics. As far as modding goes, start off with the basic bolt-ons: SLP cold air and lid kit (or another brand if that's your preference), smooth bellow, catback (cough Magnaflow cough......Ok ok, anything but SLP Loudmouth....), an underdrive pulley is pretty easy to do. These are the basics to start with.

Change oil, tranny fluid, rear end fluid, coolant flush, fuel filter, air filter, spark plugs and wires (switch to some ngk plugs and msd wires), the toss on a lid if it doesnt already have one, cutout, subframe connectors (i like the weld ins, either BMR or UMI), Lower control arms, panhard rod, Pro 5.0 shifter with short stick, Headers/ory/catback, then id look into a good clutch, 9 inch rear, and a sticky tire. I went the opposite route and added all of the power components first (cam, intake, exhaust, etc), and although it was fun it sucks having to worry about breaking the rear end on every hard launch on a decent tire. The stock 10-bolt can and has lasted through a ton of abuse on these cars, but its nice having that piece of mind that you can drop the clutch, mash the gas, hook, and still have a rear-end under the car lol.

Congrats on the SS. You should start with bolt-ons first. Don't go cheap if possible. Be like me, just wait and save then buy good stuff. I have noticed that LS1 react really well to the H.F.P mod. It has worked for me, but I think that I need to do it again. The H.F.P mod is what is also known as the Hot Female Passenger mod, does wonders.. Now may the modding begin!!!

Congrats on your purchase. As far as what mods to do first, I'd just suggest browsing the board for awhile and get some ideas. Everyone has mentioned the basic intro mods (except the twin turbo deal), so I'd just suggest picking a few and researching them a bit. All in all, you need to know what your ultimate goal for the car is (drag car, show car, daily driver, etc.) and base your mods on that. Most of all, enjoy the car!
