Default how do i check why my SES light goes on?

sorry for the newb questions guys, have a 2000 z28 m6 and the "Service Engine Soon" light keeps going on and i was hoping someone could get me a link to how to check why ?

car seems to idle slightly rougher than it should and doesn't seem to pull at the top end as much as i think it probably should too, car has fresh tune up including spark plugs and wires by the way (O2 sensors maybe?)

thanks!

Bring it by some place like auto zone - they'll scan it free, then post the code(s).

thanks man, i'll take it to kragen and do that, maybe i'm imagining the rough idle and the car has gears, granatelli MAF and has had autotap on the computer, so hopefully its just setting the SES light off for no real reason

thanks!
