Default amount of oil?

ok i say six quarts of oil for fbody's(ls1) but my bro says 5 quarts,
so am i wrong.......
or did my bro prove me wrong

Neither its 5.5 qt's but I usually just put just under 6 qts in it..

ya it is more than five but just put in about 5 1/2 and check it to make sure

^^^I'd run no oil then! With no resistance at all you could pick up a few horses. I call it the !oil mod

I put in 5.5, start the car to let it fill the filter, recheck and add to the full line. It will usually be more that 5.5 but less than 6.

Filter and oil I put in 6 quarts. Never any bubbles on the dipstick after driving it so the crank is not submerged in oil.
