Default What brand battery do you use?

I was not too happy with my first Optima Red Top, since it only lasted me about 6 months before it was toast. I exchanged it for the Yellow Top and that seems to be working fine for now. I do need a new battery in one of my other vehicles and just wanted to see if there was a battery company other that some of you guys would recommend?

What battery is in your car now? How does it hold up? What companies batteries have you had the most luck with?

Thanks

Josh

DieHard Platinum 34/78. Barely fits, but seems like a nice battery. It replaced my Optima Red Top that was getting a little bit sleepy...

I have had zero problems with my red top. I don't know how old it is because it came with my car when I bought it a year and a half ago. I've left the interior lights on a couple times over night before and have never had trouble starting it the next day. I also had a system and I would listen to the radio while working on the car for quite a while. Overall I've been pleased with mine.

At our shop we have replaced many red tops, never any yellows. I would say I and a few other techs I have talked to are not to impresed with them. Some new Jeeps came with the red tops, and had a very high failure rate. AC Delco Batteries are pretty good as are Motorcrafts(SORRY). Just my two cents!

i'm thinking about going with kinetic hc800 battery. Heard good reviews about them. Also can be placed inside vehicle like the yellow and red top battery. Anyone else every had one.

Unless you have a huge amp/sub setup, just go Diehard. I'm a Sears tech, and that's what I just bought because the warranty is so encompassing. 3 year FULL replacement, then prorated for a damn long time after that.

A few years back consumer reports rated Autozones Gold BEST. Go figure.

That's the nice thing about the Diehard platinum...it carries a 4 year full replacement warranty with it. It also has good CCA and reserve capacity in the 34/78 size, which definitely fits an f-body with a little modding to the battery tray.

Changed from Red top to Yellow top and am real happy now. I have to charge the batery in my laptop at the strip because I log and tune with EFILive. The Red Top died on me in the staging lanes, I dont think it had the reserve or the deep cycling abilities of the Yellow Top.

The Optima Red Top in a 75/35 or whatever the hell is the direct replacement size has a pretty poor reserve capacity...something like 90 minutes. If going with any battery for these cars, I won't even consider anything less than a 34/78 because the numbers are better across the board (as they should be).
