Default Off road Y

I was lookin at pacesetter headers and was reading and wanted to know what "For Off Road Use Only" meant. Our cars are not made for off road but most people say to get the ORY over the regular pacesetter. What does it mean and that is the difference!

Ok, that makes sense now, but what is the difference. Cats to no Cats, and if I get the ORY, can I still use my Magnaflow!

yes if you get an ory you can still use your magnaflow catback....all an ory is, is a ypipe with no catalytic converters....you are going to want to get a catted y if you are worried about emissions

ORY just means Off Road Y-pipe... does not really intend for you to be driving off road... its basically a Y shaped tube that has no cats... and it will hook up to your magnaflow

The term "off road use only" is officially meant for vehicles being used for sport purposes (i.e. drag racing, auto-x), and not daily driving purposes. That's why the ORY has no cats, because its not meant to be street legal.

its not up to the state to decide if you have to have cats. its a federal law, you have to have them if you live in the US

100% true. I live in ohio also, and all you need is collector plates and there is no e-check or inspection required, so, emission controls are now on a shelf in the basement. Not sure what state the OP is from, but you may be able to do something like i did....

Not only that but federal law says you can't relocate cats which makes catted Y pipes illegal anyway since LT headers forces the cats further away from the engine.

The federal law also says you can't replace cats unless they are malfunctioning or have over a certain number of miles on them (55K I believe but I'm not 100%). And finally you have to replace them with OEM cats so the high flow versions are a no-no

The states do however decide whether or not they have emissions tests. The states also decide if they just plug in a computer and look for codes or do a sniffer test as well. And states can decide whether they care to do any visual inspections.

Computer test is easy. 02 sensors and delete the ses codes and you're GTG with an ORY. Sniffer can be passed if you have decent high flow cats. But a visual means you're screwed.

That is until you find the one local guy that looks the other way for muscle cars. If you ask at a local drag strip you'll usually find such a guy. You may need to "tip" him but such is the world we live in
