Flowmaster 80 series (crossflow) sucks. Most of thier mufflers are not bad but fitting them on a F- Body can be difficult.

bolt in mufflers will net you less hp. the cat back systems arent that bad, but there are good choices out there for 300 bucks. Hooker makes a nice catback for 300 bucks, and i'm sure there are a few others out there for around that.

what series are you looking for info on in particular? 80 series yeilds less benefits than a 10 series. 10 series is more of a custom install compared to an 80 series. If you buy these mufflers do it for sound, otherwise you can spend your money better elsewhere.

DO NOT put flowmaster mufflers on an LS1. They sound like crap, and don't gain anything! Trust me, My car came with them, i replaced them with an slp LM1, and it sounds great, good gain! Flowmasters sound good on Slowstangs and LT1's, not LS1's

hahah my car sounds badass man!! i have no cats into the flowmaster, and it does not make much rasp at all unlike other mufflers outhere, but i am not sure bout the power, if it will loose power with the flow master then a cutout would fix that

Trans Am WS6 Ram Air. A4. Flowmaster Catback with 3 inch cutout.
you are fine with a cutout... without one a flowmaster 80 series has been dyno proven to drop 1-2 HP... I don't have a link but do a search and it will turn up

Its all about preference.
Do what you want its your car.
I put one on and it sounded great and I got alot of compliments on it. I installed a cutout because I heard you could lose 20hp with a Flowmaster 80 series on our cars WHICH was wrong on my car anyways.
I always drive now with the cutout open but honestly there were no seat of the pants feeling of a difference when I installed the cutout.

Oh and right now the **** is loud after I installed Mac headers and an SLP ORY and I love it. I cant wait to cam this bastard.

Oh yea it will sound alot better. Think loud like a drag car when you get on it.

Be warned though that your gas will disappear faster since you will be driving it harder after getting an ORY lol

80 series is a crossflow. 1 inlet 2 outlet with one side having an inlet and an outlet and the other side only has an outlet most F- Body cat backs use this style the Flowmaster just isn't very efficient.

40 series is a direct flow. 1 in 1 out on opposite ends of the muffler this is a normal muffler and you have to do some fab work if you want to use 1 muffler but have two exit out the back.

It will, its sort of pointless to do an exhaust system without removing the cats, but sometimes its required I guess.
