i had the EGR hose pulled out of the top of the intake the other day on my car, and my friend started the car with it off, the car reved up due to the hole being open in the top of the intake and it hit the rev limiter once befor he shut it off, you think this caused any harm?

no the rev limiter is there for that reason. to protect your engine.

You'll be fine. Be sure to tighten the freeze plug good though and put it in dry. Don't want any leaks causing some funky idle.
