You guys are crazy, but chicks probably dig that. I bet you could practically get any chick at the bar by saying, "Hey baby, I port my own heads. Want me to port yours?"

I wouldn't have the stones to take a dremel to a pair of 243's.

I doubt the Dremel will have the reach you want, for some of it.
I got a 1/4" electric die grinder off eBay for $10 and a set of
carbide burrs for not much more. The ball and flame shaped ones
were the most useful to me. I got long shank ones and ran the
grinder off a Variac to slow it down so they wouldn't whip, and
wore welding gloves so I could guide and press it by the shank.
Slow material removal is an amateur's friend.

All I did was blend things, port match to the gaskets for the
intake I wanted, take out sharp edges and so on. You can go
too far especially for a daily driver, you want to understand
what some of the "funny bumps" are about.

I can't say whether I gained or lost anything by porting them
but the combo (heads went on with a cam & springs) woke up
a fair bit going by track MPH. I got used LS2 (243) heads for
a fairly reasonable price. But factoring in labor, if I was on the
clock I would have probably come out ahead buying AFR 205s
or something. Just remember, bigger is not necessarily better.
Unless you can use it.

I'm gonna do my 853's. They are just a spare set i have had laying around for 2.5yrs. Might as well learn how to do something with them even if i ruin them i'll be ok. I can practice, practice, practice.

the 243s flow good out the box . though you can touch them up a bit . i used carbide bits to get rid of the heavy material . you dont have to take out a lot of material for a small gain but if you take out a lot and dont have a flow bench you may hurt . do some reading on here you can find out some good info .
