Just drove home my first LS1!! What should I expect?
It's a '98 Z28.. 86k miles and stock down to the paper air filter.
It's an automatic and it's at 2000 rpm's at 60mph so I think I might have 3.73's... does that sound about right? The car is supposed to have 3.23's
What kind of gas mileage should I expect with the automatic and those gears?
And what kind of routine maintenance and tune up kinda stuff should I do? I have to assume that nothing was done

Congrats and welcome
As stated above change all your fluids (motor oil, coolant, transmission fluid, differential oil, power steering fluid) as well as all your filters (oil filter, transmission filter, air filter, fuel filter) and your spark plugs and wires. This will do two things: One, since the car was bought used, you have no way of knowing when if ever any of this stuff was done. This was you are basically making sure bad fluid is going to cause your components to wear out prematurely. Two, in the process of changing all this stuff you will become familiar where everything is on your car and potentially notice any other problems with it.

CONGRATS brother, unless you start screwing with the throttle body, injectors,..ect your mileage wont do much but go up. A full exhaust, lid, synthetic oil, plugs, wires, and i went from 25 mpg to almost 30. NO BS!!! Just try to keep your foot out of it, if thats even possible

Low traction + heavy throttle input = sideways motion.
If you think that's fun, try driving one of these bad boys in snow.
Oh, and congrats to the OP!!

What you can expect from an F-body:
1. Possible sail panel paint bubbling (the roof hoop)...seems to be more likely on the later models (like mine).
2. Possible leaking power steering pump. Mine certainly did, and for a long time.
3. Possible bad water pump. Poorly maintained DexCool is usually the culprit. Check the coolant tank reservoir immediately and make sure it has something in there.
4. Possible bad radiator. Some people have had bad luck with the plastic tanks cracking over time and leaking.
5. Possible oil buildup in the intake manifold due to a poor PCV design.
That's really about it as far as the big headache items go. The engines and transmissions seem to hold up well to time, and the rear in yours doesn't sound like it has been abused being that you bought a stock automatic, so you should be good to go there. Keep an eye on everything I listed above.
