First of all, how long do you think a stock tranny (both A4 and M6) will hold up with around 500hp? I'm about to get a T/A and have some big plans for it. Also does anyone know where I can get a WS6 hood for a good price?

Check the for sale section for the hood. Don't waste your time with the 4L60E, you are better off using a 4L80E or a TH350/400. The six speed can be built to take the abuse for a reasonable price

With bolt-ons the 4L60 will break. The T56 stock is rated for 600hp, I am pushing 551rwhp and still runs great.
The hood will be hard. Probably easier to get aftermarket WS6 hood.
Peace,
Craig.

Yea, like stated above the T56 will do fine with all of that power. You will have to build the auto to take that power though. The thing you first need to worry about with all that power is the weak stock 10 bolt.

I've had a built 4L60E for about 2 years now and it runs strong. Some break within 50 miles, but it is all in how you drive the car. If you rag on the car day after day, something is going to break, but if you take care of it, it will last. As far as 500 HP, I'd personally go with a built 4L80E cause your gonna want to mod more when you get tired of 500 ponies and the 80E will still allow you to grow without having to worry about the tranny. If you like shifting, the t56's can be built to handle the power as well.

Oh, forgot about the hood, you can usually find a good used one on here already painted for around $500, look on ebay, there are some cheaper ones there, but most of them are unpainted.
