Default intake manifold questions

may not qualify as newbie tech; but it is tech, and i can be called a newbie without my feelings being hurt. so answer the questions if you can and i appreciate it.

1. Is that Weiand intake any good with a heads/cam car (~420-450 hp) Yes, no, explanation. I know LS6 is a good intake. I know FAST is a good intake. Please dont tell me these things. lol

2. FOR THE FAST intake.... Is there a huge advantage to getting the 90mm intake and TB over the 78 mm i/tb? If all I plan to do is heads and cam and supporting mods (no turbo or s/c)

3. What intake would be best with h/c and nitrous? No plans to do the nitrous yet, but for the future...

Any help is great, Thanks!

Hope this helps.....

1. weiand intakes are alright, but what I have learned is that they get heat soaked because of the material. Any intake other than the stocker will help with those mods you listed. But I think that I would stay away.....Unless weiand's new intake that they are coming out with soon is just like the FAST. Which I hear it might be even better.

2. With a heads and cam set up you NEED to go with the 90 mm set up. You would starve the engine of air. Remember you just put bigger heads and a cam in that could use more air. FAST just came out with a 92mm so there is more breathing. But yes you need the 90 or 92 stay away from the 78.

3. FAST as of now. Fast even has the n2O hookups and is just an all around great intake.

Good luck.

Mike

I am going to have a heads/cam motor with an LS6 intake. When it's all installed and tuned in a couple of weeks i'll put it on the dyno and let everyone know what it makes. I know it's gonna be over 400rwph

Just so you know another option is to send your ls6 intake to TPIS and have them make it a 90 mm for around $ 400 then you will need a TB they are around $ 500 I had a bud of mine give me the info on tpis and as far as flow goes the TPIS mod hangs with the FAST intake, but on the other hand is not as strong if you plan on usnig Nitrous.

I'm with smokin00ws6.

From what I've gathered, the Weiand is a power robbing heat sink.
I'm no expert on this, but the 90mm is the way to go, and F.A.S.T. has the nitrous ports I believe. Planning on ordering the F.A.S.T. myself soon.....
