Question Car response to lid mod?

I was just wondering why is it that my car use to launch real good at 60mph, after I installed a lid my car is now launching badass from 70mph. It still launches from 60mph but its more aggresive from 70mph, was just wondering if that is because of the lid or is it because my car is out of tune?

LId makes little to no difference. I gained something like 2-4rwhp from the SLP lid. You will never feel that.

shows up only on the dyno, butt will never notice. It is cumulative though, the benefits of a lid show up in combination with other mods.

You should also do the Free ram-air mod to go with your lid. You'll notice more torque when driving on the highway.

I have to disagree with yall. I had a 2001 WS6 that had a flomaster and a y-pipe. Best it ever ran was a 8.7 1/8th. Than I bought a lid and went 8.59. So the lid does make a difference.

shows up on dyno, shows up on track, 2 tenths can be made or lost in the launch easily. It's not something you can FEEL with a butt dyno. If we did a blind test and had each member drive a car (with radio blasting) to see which one could detect a lid car and stock lid, there is a high percentage it'd be hard to tell.

I only say with radio blasting because I can "hear" my lid suck in air almost like a faint whistle. That's if I manage to ignore the exhaust note coming off the headers...

I know when I changed the lid I could jump to warp speed. Totally worth it!

/sarcasm
(For the record, I haven't changed it.)

I will agree with ya on the butt dyno your right about that. But the track showed a good improvement. The car was a auto and I left at the same tire pressure and r.p.m. all the time. So I know it had nothing to do with the launch.

Swap the lid won't gain anything.

Swapping the lid and doing the free air mod for us non-ramair folks is the secret.
A bit noticable, but hardly a out of body experience.

Second that. When it's colder the car will respond better. All in air density. Even with my Volant CAI box 10-15 hp supposedly, I hardly noticed a difference.

from my plastic lid i gained 12rwhp, i also put water on the filter first before putting it in and starting the car. i pull hard and break the tires loose from a 60 punch from doing that water and lid mod.
