Default Car much slower with cutout???

Today I was feeling good pretty since the weather is warmer and nice. I went to wash my car, uncap my cutout and took it for a drive.

When I got on the gas, I was disappointed. The sound was loud and great, but the car felt like a pig! What's going on? There are no SES lights or anything. It just felt like I could bury the throttle and the car wasn't going anywhere!

That's how mine felt, but it gave me .2 at the 1/8 mile.
It felt like it lost torque down low but pulled alot harder up top.

you might not have enough back pressure, try a cutout plate with a smaller hole in it.

a cutout doesn't show it's value trying to putt it's way around town, it's benefit is in the upper rpm. With my older Camaro, a cutout was worth 10HP and almost 12ft/lb but all in the upper part of the hp curve.

Down low it felt like a pig.

loss of backpressure usually means loss of low end power. Also "noise to speed ratio" as I call it has changed dramatically on the noise end but not on the speed end so it throws you off.

Your car isn't making less power...it's making more power, just more efficiently

it SOUNDS like it should be going faster but it is most likley about the same until your up top like everyone says you wont feel 5hp or 10hp thats about all you will get with those out. but it SOUNDS like you have 2 motors and one of them sits in the passenger seat.

I gained 10 hp with the cutout open instead of through the Corsa cat-back. It is just too loud with the cutout open unless I am at the track!

Before I got my Camaro, my buddy let me drive his 400hp M6 SS and he has an ECO and man I kept it open, until a cop was coming then closed it. As soon as he bounced right back open again...I think it helped that he was cammin hard!

As others have said you wont really feel a gain until you get up in the rpms

I got a 8 HP increase with open cutout on the dyno compared to closed cutout so you better be sure it helps! It just feels alot heavier and slower when you're not used to driving with it open.
