Default Starter shims

When I bought my used ls1 out of a 99z it had no starter, so I bought a new starter. There were no shims included so I installed it with no shims. It doesn't grind I was just wondering if they used shims on the ls1 motors? Thanks

If a starter needs shims it's a piece of crap. That's how they get by selling mediocre crap. The oem delco starter does not use shims.
