Default Newbie Exhaust ?'ss

Ok, so I have been on here for a while, but never had an LS1. I just recently bought one, and have a couple questions.
1)I was looking to buy some headers, is there a difference between the 1998-1999 headers and 2000-2002? Will the 2000 and up work for the 1998 models?
2)Does anybody have the SLP loudmouth 1 and like it? Or is it to loud? Im having a baby, so Dont want to way too loud.
3) Are you running cats or no cats on your exhaust? Does it make your check engine light come on?

Oh by the way the headers I was looking at are pace setters with a Y.

there is one difference if you going to retain your egr and air system, since the 00-02 don't have egr. so that would be a difference between the 98-99 and 00-02. The offroad Y-Pipe (cat-less) won't throw a code as long as you install O2 sims.

The SLP LM1 catback sounds awesome! It's not overly loud to me. It sounds comperable to the Borla on a vette with a built motor in my opinion. They get alot of rasp though after headers and Y-pipe, and are VERY loud. My nephew has a 2002 formula with Kooks headers and aftermarket Y-pipe, high flow cats. It is obscenely loud!

Cool, so does removing the AIR and EGR cause your gas mileage to go down? Has anybody done it ande seen results?

if you keep your manifolds and stock y loudmouth 1 sounds awesome, but if your going to be running ORY and Longtubes its just got too much rasp for me, If you go with the LT's and ORY you can always replace the LM1 resonator with a LM2, Borla XR1, or a Dynomax Bullet, they all sound really good with LT's IMO

Before you do the EGR/AIR delete decide if you want to try to pass an emmision inspection.

As of now, I wont need to do one. The car will be registered in Florida, so I wont need one. Could that stuff be easily reconnected? In case I decide to sell it someday?

Nope going with LT's. Got a good deal on some, but they are from a 2000. Thats why I was asking.

They also can be if the headers have the air/egr provisions on them already.

I got the loudmouth 1 and loved it. Recently added pacesetter lts and ory. Wow. idle is awesome but the rasp is definately a factor. listen to my vid. but please excuse the part where the car leaves and the camera is still going. http://s136.photobucket.com/albums/q...urrent=007.flv

I think it sounds really good on the stock manifolds/cats.
