So I dont have a manual and I cant find it in a haynes, sooooooooo how do I stop my headlights from opening up everytime I unlock and lock it. Last thing how can I get my foglights on without the headlights coming up? My friend has a lt1 TA that the fog lights will come on without the headlights coming up so im confused. Thanks-Tim

Downloadable manuals for your car (look for the different "modes" the alarm can work in):

Fogs without headlights.. Only way I've been able to do that is to have the parking-lights on when switching on the fogs.

Are you having headlight motor issues? ie, not wanting to open/close or grinding?

Make sure you go from the off position to the middle position. If you go too far and then move it back into the middle position, then the headlights will come up but will not be on. They shouldn't pop up unless the switch is moved into the 3rd or rightmost position. The fog lights can be turned on in the middle position without popping up the headlights.

You probably need to replace a headlight motor. If it makes a lot of noise, that's definitely it. They should not open when you hit the lock button.

A headlight motor? no way. It would need the current to power the motor to open and close the headlights. This is a very common problems with our cars, and I do not know the cause. It has something to do with the way the factory alarm was rigged. I know there is a how-to thread on how to change this... search is your friend pal

sounds crazy, but it is a somewhat common issue for the headlights to do that is a motor is going out, that's why i asked the questions I did above.

if you have a trans am the way that you can have the fogs come on is by just flipping the switch to the on position under the headlight control to have them flash when you unlock it and to drive with them on just turn the **** 1 click not 2. for the headlights coming up when you unlock it. i dont know how to help you there

Thank you Most everyone skips my post when I ask that, as did this guy. Understandable cause it sounds like it doesn't make sense, but it is a common issue and that's the common cause.
