Default Question about LS1 Engine

Hey, i wondering if there were any problems with the first year of production for the Ls1 engine? ANy recalls? Any major problems? Let me know, Thank you

by first year do u mean 97 or 98?

from what I gather the 98s at least had weaker rod bolts, oil pump issues, and more complicated to tune pcm/harnesses

I ended up buying a 98 since I needed a computer and harness seperate anyway and already had planned on replacing the oil pump as well

also.. im assuming they fixed those problem in 99+?

to the best of my knowledge, but maybe it was 00 up for the rod bolts? don't remember on that one

they also changed from perimeter bolt valve covers to center bolt

i'm sure someone can chime in with more...actually i think there's a sticky up somewhere that tells every difference year to year

no problem, the stickies at each section are LOADED with information with just about anything you can think of and once you get the search button down you'll be sitting at your computer for hours gathering information

piston slap but that isnt 98's only, if u will call that a problem
