well, here is the story, i want to play my ipod in the car and bought fm transmitter, but it's crap. I have heard that most of them have too much static so, long story short, instead buying an expensive one for like over 50 dollars, why not get a tape player and cassette adapter (which i already have).... I dont play cd's nor listen to radio...
So pretty much if i buy that tape player, it will be as simple as pulling out my stock cd player, and replacing it with this tape player and it should play, right???

The fm transmitters are not all that bad. The biggest problem is if you drive through different counties/states where the radio stations change. If you get a decent one it wont have static... ie ipod / logitec i think makes one... get something name brand. I got my moms for $25-30 bucks... and it charges it too.
And the tape deck is going to cost you $36+ 10-12 shipping... so 48? ( and i forgot the install kit $20-30... so $80.) Thats better then $50 on the fm transmitter with all the labor to change out the deck... and decreasing the sale value on the car?
If you have to, try one from walmart/target or something... then return it if you dont like it.

Yes, agreed. Your car will still have the clean look and all of it's value by just going with a better transmitter. Also like RILLI said, pulling everything apart and rewiring everything to do that to your car is definitely not worth the couple bucks saved!!!

Only thing i will say, is i didnt like the big bulky one that held the ipod, because it would slide on a turn and end up facing another direction... but ive only tried one of those.
OR, if you really want to do it right... call these guys (or someone similar) :http://www.icarkits.com/?gclid=CI6ul...FQhsgwodEzXxoQ
The kit is $140... http://www.icarkits.com/advanced_sea...icle=1&sort=4d

since you have a monsoon sound system, you will need new aftermarket speakers and run new speaker wire (there is a way to use the stock wiring but i'm not familiar with it)
or if you want, I have a monsoon am/fm/cassette player, PM me if interested

As said above, get a stock one with a cassette player. I did the opposite with a 2000 S10, I took the stock casette player out and put a '98 trans am CD player in, it plugged right in and bolted right up.
I had a job in a salvage yard and there are tons of different radios for GM vehicles that bolt and plug right in.
