Default Stock air box modification questions

What gains from a modified stock air box compared to a replacement lid?

-remove silencer
-add bellows
-remove vents from inside factory lid

Default Re: Stock air box modification questions

The gains will not be near as much. The after market lids are raised a little and the air flow is directed directly into the air outlet by design. The stock air lid has an oval exit and would need some fabricating to the Mass air. (Oval is not as efficient as a circle.) The bellows would add some. Getting an aftermarket lid is probably the best route if it is at all possible, that combined with a K&N will definetly show a marked difference.
