Default LS6 intake on a 98-00 LS1

I read on here that the 98-00 LS1's have a bigger cam than the 01-02 LS1's. So I was wondering if you changed to a LS6 intake on a 98-00 like whats already on the 01-02 cars. Would the 98-00 go from being slower than the 01-02 cars to being fast than the 01-02 cars if everything else was left stock?

The LS6 intake will show better gains when you start putting more mods on the car, it would probably get you a 5-10rwhp gain on a stock car...

I understand what your saying BIGBOS but I just wanted to know motor for motor if a 98-00 would be as strong or maybe stronger than a 01-02 if it just had the same intake.

1997 - 2000 LS1 Intake GM P/N 1255633, Plenum Volume 5.06 Liters, Runner Length 262 mm, Runner Volume .536 Liters

2001-2002 LS1/LS6 Intake GM p/n 12561182, Plenum Volume 5.19 Litres, Runner Length 262 mm, Runner Volume .541 Liters

Manifold by itself is worth 7 or 8 rwhp and similar gain in torqe on a mostly stock engine

Comparing 1998 and 2002, camshafts, they are identical
.500/.500 valve lift, 209/198 duration, Lobe Seperation angle 119.5 degrees, Timing 117/122

Chevy LS1/LS6 Performance, HP Books, Christopher Endres - author.

Good book

I thought they got rid of the EGR system because they switched to a cam out of one of the truck motors (5.3?)
Everything that I have heard up until this point has been that the 00+ cars have smaller cams.

I know I have a couple sites in my favorites that list cam specs. I'll post back if someone else doesn't beat me to it.

The used the LQ4 truck cam for 2001, it is like 198/199 478/479 119lsa, its mild...

Those aren't the exact specs, but its close...

Aint got the specs, but they are not the same. the 01-02 has a slightly less aggresive cam, thus requiring no EGR. The difference is very small, and as for the orignal ?, I think if you swapped the intake and heads to the LS6 and casting #241 then IMHO you'd be ahead of the 01-02.

The lack of the EGR crap on the 01-02 F-bodies is due to the fact that because of the Skip Shift crap they did NOT need the EGR to meet federal emmisions requirements. Yeah, That cute little light that 'forces' you to shift to a much higher gear supposedly keeps your RPM's down thus reducing emmisions. The EGR is gone because GM did NOT need it to make the environment wackos happy.

The cams are different, but not by a whole lot...

There are many differences between these different year model cars... Do a search... You may be surprised...

So does anyone know a link that goes into detail all the differences between 98,99,00, and 01-02 cars. I have a 98 and have been thinking of getting a newer one but I'm not sure if I should. All of the differences I have read about in my car I don't like. Is there any area where a 98 is better than the newer ones. There is one good thing about my car....it doesn't have any traction control

Uh, CAGS, or skip shift has been there since '93. Smaller cam in 2001 = !EGR.
