Lingenfelter Performance Returns As Design & Engineering Challenge Sponsor At 2014 OP Lingenfelter Performance Returns As Design & Engineering Challenge Sponsor At 2014 OPTIMA Ultimate Street Car Invitational
The Legendary Lingenfelter Performance Engineering returns as the Design & Engineering Challenge Sponsor of the 2014 OPTIMA Batteries Ultimate Street Car Series. For those unaware of the Ultimate Street Car Series, it's a grueling five-event challenge to see which car reigns supreme with the most form and function. The five events consist of:
-Street Driving/Open Road/Rally Competition
-Autocross
-Acceleration/Braking
-Road Course
-Performance/Design Competition
If that's not cool enough, it's the participants that vote on their competitor's vehicles along with select companies and judges that decide who reigns supreme. If that's not cool enough, there are qualifying events throughout the year that are televised on MAVTV (there's an episode tonight!) and 2014 brings one of the coolest additions, a stop at the world-famous Laguna Seca raceway–bring on the corkscrew!

DECATUR, Ind. - Lingenfelter Performance Engineering has renewed their season-long sponsorship of the Lingenfelter Performance Design & Engineering Challenge that is part of the 2014 OPTIMA(tm) Batteries Search for the Ultimate Street Car events and television series. The Lingenfelter Performance Design & Engineering Challenge is a vital part of the overall event and awards points to competitors based upon the overall design and engineering aspects of their vehicles.
"We are proud to once again sponsor the Lingenfelter Performance Design & Engineering Challenge at the 2014 OPTIMA Batteries Ultimate Street Car events," said Ken Lingenfelter, CEO/owner, Lingenfelter Performance Engineering.
"As one of five segments within the 2014 OPTIMA Batteries Ultimate Street Car events, the Lingenfelter Performance Design & Engineering Challenge is all about how cars bring form and function together," said Jimi Day, race director of the OPTIMA Batteries Ultimate Street Car Series. "All participants will vote on competitors' vehicles, and then the judges will review the cars for fit, finish, modifications, engineering and design. Lingenfelter is the perfect company to sponsor the Performance Design & Engineering Challenge because they've been building outstanding and well-designed high-performance cars for more than 40 years."
However, the Lingenfelter Performance team isn't just going to be judging cars at the 2014 OPTIMA events. "We're partnering with Ride-Tech and will be campaigning two to four cars at every 2014 event," said Mike Copeland, vice president and general manager at Lingenfelter Performance Engineering. "We are really looking forward to the first event of the 2014 OPTIMA Batteries Search for the Ultimate Street Car season that takes place at the famous Laguna Seca track in northern California. The OPTIMA Series includes 11 races and 10 qualifying events, plus the post-SEMA final event, and all of these events are held at some of the finest race tracks in the country."
