Budget build (advice needed)
I was going to tear down the stock motor, throw in some forged pistons and spray a 200-250 shot. that is the plan and goal
I was wondering if just changing out the pistons/rings and putting in ARP rod bolts would be enough. I don't know if I necessarily need H beam rods. I was hoping stock rods would hold. I don't expect to spin the motor to anything to extreme, high 6000's or maybe just tap 7000rpm.

I have a plate for the kit right now
It's an LS1 in a GTO
what about stock rods though, are they strong enough for a big shot like that? I read that the bolts are weak but what about the rods themselves?

the rods are ok, but for 100 bucks you can get bolt or add another 300 and get some eagle rods with arp bolts already in them, a set of pistions and your good to go, no questions asked.

I'm going to be spraying 200 direct port on stock bottom LS1, but I know it will be fine because I have a dedicated race gas fuel system for the nitrous.
At least get the rod bolts. You could drop more money for eagle rods, but you'll be fine with stock rods..but 300 for rods w/ bolts is a pretty good deal...
