Default New LSx Tunnel Ram Intake Hits the Market-Check this bad boy out

Not sure if anyone has posted this yet as i have been away, but here goes, lol. I don't have much information on this intake yet, but it was shown at SEMA. With Edelbrock getting into the LSx game we may now have a Tunnel Ram style intake that the mases can afford. No more wishing I had one of the $3000 sheet metal intakes. This will be my next Dry Direct Port set-up, no doubt. I want one so bad I can taste it, lol. More money for the Z06 money pit fund, lol.

Some performance specs are in, claims that the out of the box intake makes 25 more HP than the LS2 intake. then we have to consider a little clean up work on the ports, which someone will be doing real soon I am sure. I can see this intake with mild porting making close to 40/50 additional HP over a stock intake.

Here's some additional information:
retail Price: $430.00 (unbelievable compared to $3000.00 for sheet metal)
It's a high volume plenum-high velocity runners and 90mm TB deliver max HP and a flat broad torque curve from 1500rpm to 6500rpm. out of the box 25hp gain over the LS2 intake!
It's named XT EFI Manifold, for the GM Gen III IV series and part# 7139.

I have one on order (if he can get one) already with my Edelbrock West Coast Distributor. Anyone need a slightly used single plain plumbed for a Dry Direct Port set-up? We will make you a great deal.
Robert

Edit: check this video out, 30.7hp over a LS6 Intake out of the box.

No way in hell that thing's gonna fit under the F-body cowl. You thinking it's gonna fit your Z?

The hood is history. i was going custom hood anyway with the single plain and elbow, or at least add a cowl induction or something to my hood. i doubt if it would even fit under a trucks hood?

Subscribing....just hoping it does'nt take the same road the Street Warrior has taken. I can't wait to see some real world numbers. This thing is going to sell like hot cakes, especially at that price!

Is there a way to port it?

Get someone to cut the top off, port it and weld it back on.

Edelbrock's pretty good about putting things out in a timely fashion. It is a great price, but by the time you have someone cut the top off and port it like ATV said, it's gonna eat into the budget a little.

So will this be more for the stock cube guys or the big displacement crew?
I like the look of it and if it performs well its a hell of a deal IMO.
It accepts a 90mm TB or it includes one... i'm assuming it accepts one as thats a silly price to have one included..right?

By the looks of it, on an F-Body I would guess cutting up into the cowl no more than an 1"- 1.5".

By my guess this would work great for the forced induction guys not wanting to throw down alot of money as well as high rpm small cubes motors. Not sure about those big cubes guys but if Edelbrock has put alot of time and thought into it I'm sure they wouldn't ignore the demand that the big cube motors are presenting for intake manifolds. What do I know though, I'm just looking at pictures.

I'm just waiting for some douche to jump in this thread and start a heat-soak argument because it's not composite.

I will be shocked if that fit's on a f-body without cutting the window and the cowl. Looks like it would work great on an LS1 street rod.

If it did'nt fit that would just be an excuse to get a Percys front windshield and trim a little wouldn't it? I mean that's how I would pitch it to the wife...I'll just tell her they go hand in hand!

I heard that Edelbrock also had a set of new heads aimed at the Super Vic single plain, and this was at SEMA also. I think this intake will work great for a bigger cube engine. I don't have any other specs besides what has been posted.

Wouldn't this intake be basically like an "undressed" truck intake?

I dunno, that looks like its gonna take some serious cuting on an Fbody. Looks like you would have to cut the whole cowl up to the windshield if not having to notch the windshield itself.

With a decent port job i am sure it could make some good horsepower

I agree, I was out looking at my car last night with the elbow off of the Vic Jr. This thing isn't going to be a matter of hood clearance, but the cowl is going to make it a nasty install.

that was the first thing i did, i dug up the pictures of installing my vic jr and elbow and im like, holy crap that is gonna take a lot of cutting. If you think about it, the only real reason you have to cut the cowl with the vic is cause the front lip of the cowl hits the back of the elbow. In this case you'll be maintaining the same height if not more then the elbow and carrying it all the way back to the firewall

Should be good for vettes, trucks, maybe the GTO, but I just cant see going through all that labor.
