I guess it's too late but you could have saved some money and went with the GM MLS. They are just as good if not better than Cometics and only cost about $40.00

I use the GM MLS's and I have sprayed well over 300 with no problems. I'm sure your Cometics will work fine though.

Stock MLS gaskets is what I use and I've had upwards of 350 on the car before without a gasket problem fwiw.

Are there alot of sizes (bore and thickness) to choose from with the stock gaskets?

Most choose between the LS6 3.9 bore gasket or the 6.0 L truck gasket for a 4.0 bore.

I don't think they have diff thicknesses to choose from, but they have 3.9 and 4.0 bore and I'm not sure what they use on the ls3/l92, if it's the 4.0 or if they make a 4.060.

So do you guys have your motors set up to run a certain thickness gasket?

The flexability to have multiple thickness's and bore sizes is a big advantage.
My motor is not even 4.030 and we use bigger than a 4.060 gasket.

Quench matters if your spraying alot of nitrous.

how tight is your quench on your motor?

To be honest with you I don't even know what quench is, thought the gasket thickness was just to get a little more or less compression. What is the quench and what are the benefits of more or less? And what is the benefit of the bigger bore gasket on a smaller bore?

quench is the distance from the piston to the bottom of the head.

like my motor for example, i run a .040" gasket, my pistons stick out of the hole .007, so my quench is .033".

from my understanding the tighter you can get it the better. it helps prevent detonation. but if you go to tight you have to worry about the piston hitting the head when the piston rocks at tdc

My quench is around .065
http://www.yellowbullet.com/forum/sh...d.php?t=100545 ..... Quench thread

And Tony Mamo suggested we use the bigger bore gaskets a few years ago. Not sure exactly why but they have worked great so far as we have not had a failure yet.

I think you have that backwards.

Shiz had a TIGHT quench and it made ALOT of heat.
