Default Does anyone else have a cap/lid issue with nitro dave's standalone?

The lid on my standalone will not come off.... it is likely the cap. why does it stick? who else has this problem? Does he sell replacements?

I have no experience with the standalone kit but I know the lid on the fuel cell(same style lid) in my Nova gets stuck, and gives me crap pretty much every time i try to remove it.

its as you said, its like the seal is sticking.

Sometimes its hard to align the tabs on the other side of the cap. Next time, try backing the flip up tab back slightly and then pull up.

I have this problem also with mine. I used some silicon lube on the seal thinking it was dried out and that did nothing. Big PITA to take the cap off

With the caps used on our dedicated systems its the same as used in a fuel cell. You can actually overclock the lid causing the tlocking tabs to not line up with the opening in the trim ring. Once you get it down you will not hae anymore issues. You do have to hold your mouth just right.

Mine sometimes needs to be twisted 1/16" to the CCW and CW directions. But it does come off, don't force it though. Just make sure the tab slots in the receiver for thecap aren't bent.

You might consider knocking down the edges on the tabs. It's worked for me in the past. Just a little file and sandpaper work.

Did you read the thread and see if what was posted fixed the issue?

Of course I did, it's the same information that I received when I called and talked to a sales person and the same information that Dave is telling me through pm right now.

I've tried the suggestions, they do not work.

No offense but its not that hard to figure out, its the information because thats how you fix it 99.99% of the time. Its very easy to get the tabs not lined up on those style caps. You just have to line it back up.
Post a picture of the bottom of your cap, its probably not aligned.

If I can get the cap off, I will be more than happy to post up a picture for you. I just tried again earlier(following all the instructions I received through this thread and the salesman) and it still did not come up. Will try again later.

Agreed, I had problems initially, then I learned to finesse and make it is aligned and I haven't had a problem since then.

With more patience and less muscle, I was finally able to remove it. Did this a few times just to make sure I had the hang of it. Also, I think the humidity in the air was far less than what I was dealing with on other days. Nevertheless, finally happy I got it.

I am ready to blow my head off. I just spent $1,000 dollars and opened the cap upon arrival. I read this thread prior to receiving the cell and I just spent all night and this morning trying to get the cap/lid off. I tried all the tricks everything. My fingers are raw
I refuse to fight this thing. I still cannot get the cap off. I am not stupid either.

I am going to call them today and send this back and they can pay for the shipping to and fro. Let them deal with it. It is bull ****.

Sorry......but for $1,000 I should not have this problem....

I just flagged a 5yr old down that was out front walking his dog.

He got it.

Chris just called me and I explained to him that I was very frustrated cause I spent probably 4 hours trying to get that lid off. I was kidding about the 5yr old btw.

I finally got the lid off this morning around 7:36 am.

Once the lid was off, I took a close (I mean really close) look at the mechanism and how it lock etc. I played with it several times and now have the process down.

It is my understanding that the tolerances on all these cell caps/lids are very small by design. Going forward I would only recommend taking a very close look at the way the cap/lid seals and get familiar with the sequence to open and close it.

I retract my previous post #15 and admit it was typed in frustration. Chris and Grahm have always taken very good care of me and have never had a problem or qustion they didn't resolve favorably.

Graham,
I would be a liar if I told you I have never thought about chucking a tool or two. However with my luck, it would bounce off a beam and hit me or my car.

BTW,
I am still putting neosporin on the last header burn I got from about 3 weeks ago.

THATS GONNA SCAR!
