Question Timing Pull Resistor Trick !

SEE The Pictures Plz

see the another pictures

i have PowrMaf 100 adapter size.. So the Low Reference whats that mean ?
its correct wire on the first picture
and do i need another IAT or Stock IAT work fine
and its right wire A= IAT Signle from Maf adapter B=Ground From Maf adapter its work?

Any Difference between MAF adapter wire and Pcm wire?

thanks

hmm, this may be usefull on my 98 PCM to pull timing under N2O.

Thanks!

The low reference is the 5v reference. I have never tested it with a micrometer.I use a scan tool to check. When you hit the switch the IAT jumps up to around 134 degress. Pulls around 3 deg of timing.

the first pictures the green wire go with Maf wire ground

A= iat signal
b= ground

so its mean 30 same wire with 87a on relay right!

78a go with what wire voltge or graund what wire go with

thanks

This has been done for years, except people used to make the IAT think it was cold to gain timing on NA runs.

The timing tricker does not involve the MAF only the IAT sensor. The tan(signal) wire that goes from the PCM to the iat is split and connected between the 87a and 30 pin. The 87 pin is where the resistor hooks up inline with the purple(ground) wire. Remember leave the MAF alone. This does not involve the MAF.

So would this work on lt1 cars? and im still a little confused as to how it works but if i can use this it would work great with my nitrous!

I'd imagine so, however I would verify with a scan tool such as autotap to make sure the timing is right.

oh now i understand thats helpful
it's diffrent from basic way the basic way say hooks up the resistor with signal you say go with ground
and i think you now what you talk about so i will go with your way and test it with some scan tools

now go and tech some student you are good

thanks every one

Does the 750k ohm resistor trick the engine into thinking the AIT sensor is colder, or warmer? I would hope warmer if we want it to pull timing. Cause if it thinks the AIT sensor is colder, then the computer natural response it to add fuel and timing.

Warmer so it pulls timing.

Warmer. When on, IAT goes to 134 degrees. Pulls around 3 degrees of timing.

750 ohm will pull 3 degrees pull.

667 ohm thats mean 140F how many timing deg pull

when heat go a litle high more like 40F more how many timing pull ?

Depends on the car....I know on most of the LS1 F-bods u cant pull more than 3 degrees without messing with hptuners to allow for more...If u do a search for resistor mod u can find a list with the amounts of timing that can be pullied in most set ups.

so, i konw this thread is couple months old. but, you do this on a switch and only pull when you spray? that would be nice. so is it instant that the computer pulls the timing, or does it take a second. i would hate to shoot a bigger shot under WOT and wait say 3 seconds for the timing to be pulled. or am i not thinking correctly at all?

I am going to do this mod today! It appears to be instant. You are basically activating the relay which switches over from the iat thermistor over to the 750 ohm resistor. Using hptuners you can set the timing pull to be whatever you want!
