Default Which stall converter for spray?

What are you auto guys using with nitrous? I am running my 4 year old probably 2,000 passes on it, TCI 3600 $450 converter Thinking about switching to a VIG 3600 tripple disk. On the dyno it wont lock or hold the torque worth a damn. Just blows right through the converter. Car puts down deccent numbers in the 1/8th 7.30 @ 93 on a 100 shot 1.59 60' but this torque converter is hating me.

depending on cam size i would say VIG 3600-4000.. bigger cam = 4k.. smaller is 3600..

A Vig 3600 is a 4000 converter in the real world. A yank SS4000 would be a nice alternative.

A 4000 Vig is a 4400 converter in the real world and is going to be inefficent on the N20.

i understand that.. have never seen a VIG that didnt flash high...

buddy of mine sprayed a 200 shot on his VIG 4k with an ms4 cam a countless number of passes.. worked perfectly the cam and converter both loved the spray..

I sure it physically worked but I guarantee it wasnt the most efficient nor the best performing converter for that application.

A car with a signifigant nitrous hit will be blowing way past the torque cuvre of the car. The extra 200-250ftlbs of torque from nitrous will blow right through the 4400 converter on a stock bottom end car shifting at 6800 or so.

Efficiency and application are the keys to converter selection.

On a stock bottom end H/C/N20 car a 4000 converter is right on the money.

A 4400 converter in that same application will 60" worse and trap slower on an identical application on the bottle.

i agree, but i would rather run faster on motor than on nitrous.. and a 4400 stall would be better for NA... you usually dont need nitrous on the street.. and at the track i would rather be mroe impressive on motor than on spray..

just my .02..

I agree with both of you guys.. :-p

Sometimes I wish my 3600 was a 4000, but I'm too lazy to take it out for a restall.

james def. is making good points..

just depends on which way you look at it.. if you spray it more or you are on motor more..

or

if you want to be faster on motor or on spray..

I'm running a Circle D 2c( 3200-3400) on a stock internal SS. 10.94@125.7 1.63 sixty ft. is the best on a 150wet. Flashes higher on the gun...about 3700.
