Build Thread: Headed for the stock cid LS1 nitrous record
Just figured I'd start a build thread. The car is a 2002 SS Camaro. The best it's been so far is a 10.34 @ 130 on a 150 shot. That was with stock heads and stock guts...other than the cam.
Here is some info on the new set-up....
Motor:
-346 cid LS1
-Callies Crank
-Callies rods
-Weisco nitrous pistons
-AFR 205's
-EFI Victor Jr.
-Wilson Pro Flow Direct Port nitrous
-Wilson 4150 throttle body
Transmission:
-Rossler RMVB TH400
-ATI converter
Rear-end:
-Moser 12-bolt (Narrowed 5")
-35 spline axles
-Spool
-5/8 wheel studs
Suspension:
-UMI....if they make it, it's on the car
-AFCO rear shocks
-QA1's up front
-Aerospace rear drag brakes
-Strange front drag brakes
That's pretty much the jist of it. The car is getting gutted and re-wired. Everything under the hood the car doesn't need is gone...and when it goes, the car will be heading off to get re-painted. It's getting a sheet metal gauge cluster with all Autometer Cobalt full sweep gauges...8 of them. The record for a stock cid nitrous LS1 is 9.3x as of right now, so that's what we're shooting for, then we'll slow it down a little and do some index racing. The car is being built/put together by R.P.M. in Garner, NC. I'll post pics up as I get them...then hopefully some 9.2x numbers by March. Here are a couple pics of the car before the stock motor came out.

go solid roller and the other suporting parts you have listed set up correct i dont see the record being an issue.
if i knew then what i know now as im sure smith will tell you the same, im sure we would have been faster for sure. the new parts and tuning available and tuning knolage etc should make the record prety easy to grab.
good luck. sharp car

Thanks for all the feedback guys. I'm keeping the car a hyd. roller....gonna let RPM work a little magic with it. It will be a high compression motor as well. The car will weigh right about 3k pounds with me in it.
BTW, the a/c is now out of the car. lol
I'll get with you this week Ryan. Gonna have you send a few things over to RPM for me. I'm in Afghanistan, but I should be able to give you a call instead of my woman for my morale call. LOL
