Default 112 vs 114 lsa on juice.

I have heard that you could use a 112 and have no problems, as long as you go no lower. Does anyone run a 112?

I do and we will find out how much of an impact it has on the dyno......

Cool I love experiments. Everyone has opinions but, I would love dyno numbers.

Any cam will work with Nitrous some will work better. I don't think you will notice any peak difference in different camshafts, but the power under the curve is where the a camshaft designed for nitrous really shines.

I was debating on two different camshafts. Comp 216/220 with a 114lsa and the TR220/220 with a 112lsa. Both have a broad torque band and keep the rpms down, which is what I want.

It's not going to make a bit of difference unless you're spraying 250+ shot of nitrous...

My best advice to people with street cars. Build it for optimal N/A performance first, then consider Nitrous icing on the cake...

Damian is right, 112 LSA seems to work pretty good on LS1s. even if you what to spray over a 250 shot a 112 will still be ok. you will just get a little bit more power out of a 114 with that kind of shot but your NA times will slow a bit.

I had a 224 .581 lift@112 lsa. I also had it retarded 2*. The best I could muster on the dyno was 495RWHP/520RWTQ.
Switched to a 228/234 .589/.598 @114 LSA intalled dot to dot. First dyno with only fuel correction to match the last time. No timing changes. made 525RWHP/615RWTQ.
Take it as you like. Ill stick with the 114.

In fairness, the extra 10* of exhaust duration probably helped MUCH MORE than the extra LSA, IMO.

The 114 will have less overlap than the 112 cam, so the 114 cam should make higher cylinder pressures, so the 114 cam should make more power, but on smaller shots I dont think it will make that big of a difference.

I would not spray over 200 on a 112 lobe center. will it work... yes.... will it work for a while probably... the first time the car bogs on spray you WILL have a backfire. the reason N20 likes bigger LSA's is valve overlap. a 112 and lower are ground for NA high end power where overlap helps cylinder scavenging to suck more air in on top with a lower cylinder pressure at lower RPMS giving up torque. for those who might not know what overlap is "the amount of time in degrees both the intake and exhaust valve are open at the same time". with N20 you do not want as much overlap because once light it burns very fast and can create a situation where the cylinder pressure is bled off in the exhaust or in severe instances an intake backfire. there is a lot more to this but that is the lamens explaniation. I do not give up compresion with N20 but when building a N20 engine the camshaft is at least a 114 if not higher.

00redz28, where do you live in the mound? that is my old stomping grounds back in the day. We used to hang out at taco bell and various parking lots with my black z28 with yellow wheels.. it had quite a reputation for a while..

there are many cams out there designed for nitrous that have a 112 lsa. mine was, and a lot of people arespraying it with no probs. 114 would be better for the extremist that craves huge shots but i think more time is spent of the bottle vs. on. JMO
