Default Is it safe

Hi

1.Is it safe to spray through shifts
2.Is there any harm by sparying nitrous lets say 2nd gear and then shutting it at 3rd gear then spray again at 4th gear

thanks

On a stock a4 or a m6 no! If your asking about your g8 then yes, the stock
a6 should handle it, depending on mods and the size of shot you plan on spraying.

You should be fine spraying gears 1-4 on the a6, not sure about 5th, definately not 6th. Also it should not matter if you spray 2nd, skip 3rd, then spray 4th. Although Im not understanding the logic behind that, care to explain?

5th & 6th gear are over drive gears, meaning they are lower than 1:1, wich puts heavy strain on parts. It's normally not recomended to use nitrous in the over drive gears. If the tranny was built, then you might be ok spraying 5th, but I still would not spray 6th. I still don't think anybody understands your logic behind skipping 3rd gear? I can see locking out 1st gear for traction purposes and spraying 2nd, 3rd, 4th.

yeah but I heard spraying 1st gear nitrous isnt good for the engine or tranny on a STOCK motor

what I meant isnt skiping a gear I mean if a window switch is programmed to shut off at 6300 rpm and I shift at 6500rpm so it the nitrous will shut off and reopen agian at 2nd gear at 3000rpm

Herd from who? Explain how it's hard on the motor? The only 2 reason's that I am aware of not to spray
1st gear is;

1) Traction

2) To keep from killing the stock trans and rear on the launch.(the g8 trans and rear is good to around 600hp, so this should not be an issue on a 100 shot bolton g8)

yeah the tranny could hold safely 525whp and rear could 600whp

but you are saying spraying under or over 3000rpm because under 3000rpm isnt safe that I am sure of

I agree spraying under 3k rpm is not recomended, but some still do it. Have you figured out what kit your going with?

1. You can spray through the shift but i'd steer away from that casue if something were to go wrong -( Like missing a shift )- and you hit the revlimiter it has the potential to cause a problem. I'd put a window switch on it to be safe.

2. There is no problem in doing this. It's basically how a window switch works. You set a parameter of 3000rpm activation to 6300rpm deactivation and you shift @ 6500rpms..............the switch will activate the nitrous under WOT @ 3000rpms and then cut off when you reach 6300rpms you make the shift and then the nitrous reactivates after the rpm drop.

Ya if the window switch works, 50% of the time mine did not. I love the micro switch!

Just like kinglt1 said, you can spray 1st gear just fine in your application, given traction. I also wouldn't spray under 3k.

Spraying 5th is iffy... I spray 5th all the time. BUT it COULD lead to some problems. Definately don't spray 6th.

What you described is exactly what a window switch does. A window switch is basically just a safety zone to back up for your WOT switch in case you miss a shift or something similar. It would not be smart to not run one.

And please, do NOT spray "through" shifts.

Are you spraying your car right now or just thinking about it or what?

Well when you let off the throttle to shift, the wot switch will stop spraying. When you hit the gear, punch it and it will spray again. Its simple.

I have a A6 tranny why it isnt safe to through shifts
what you mean by when you let off the throttle to shift
can I do it by a window switch let say I lock it at 6300rpm and shift at 6500rpm is it will shut off and reopen again
