Default Need to disassemble purge solenoid

I have a purge solenoid that is sticking open.
Lesson learned, do not point purge lines up where they can be rained in.

Any way, it seems that my purge lines filled with rain water, and now my purge solenoid is sticking open.

Does anyone have any ingenious "around the house" object I can use to remove the stem from the base. I do not have a spanner wrench to do this.

Thanks,
Rick

I tried my snap ring pliers, that was my first thought, but it is too tight and just bends my tips..

I will try the double nut...but I am sure that will be the only nut in the world I do not have..lol

Fastenal usually has the correct jam nuts to double them up.

Got it apart, and cleaned.
Have a question about the spring though.
It seems awfully small. What are your thoughts on shimming or replacing with a slightly higher rate spring to aid with closing and sealing..?

Thanks

No, the spring is really just there to put slight pressure on the plunger at a zero pressure scenario. For example, if the orientation of the solenoid was such that the plunger just falls to the bottom of the tower, the plunger might not seal when the system is pressurized.
