Default Ground Relay Wiring

I need help from wiring experts.

I am running COS5 which comes on as soon as ground is supplied to pin #56 on the PCM. I currently have it wired to my HSW switch plate using a 12V toggle switch as seen here:

http://www.harrisspeedworks.com/prod...&cat=67&page=1

I simply connected the 12V input with ground and when I flip the switch, the ground is supplied.

I would like to continue using the LED indicator to show me that COS5 is armed, however the switch is not wired like such.

Is the a relay that can provide ground when armed by a 12v source?

ya any single pole 12v relay will work. so your switch is neg and wats pos.

simply hook you neg switch to terminal 85 on the relay and hook a pos sourse on 86 terminal then put a ground or frame wire to terminal 30 and when the switch is grounded it will put a neg singal out 87 terminal on the relay and wire 87 to the pcm

the numbers are on the relay

pretty much you need a positive and neg to pull the relay arm dont matter were you get the soures as long as you have both. the triggers are terminal 85 and 86 ( put a neg to one and a pos to the other) and it pulls the arm over and you can ether have pos or neg go to 30 and what ever power sorse is on 30 it will come out 87

So I follow you on;

87 - ground to PCM
30 - ground source from frame
86 - will be pos from arming switch

but not clear on

85 - ???

Am I grounding this one also?

I see what you mean now

Pin 30 will use whatever polarity I want to pass thru to Pin 87 when triggered by 86 and 85. So I am using 3 ground pins and 1 12v pin to supply ground. Whereas I would use 3 12v and 1 ground in order to supply 12v thru pin 87

Thanks man, I appreciate your help

The way I set mine up was to use the + from the arming switch. Then when the window/wot tps switch goes active, I send the negative lead to the negative side of the relay. That way COS5 is only active when the nitrous is live AND when the arming switch is on.

I also thought about using the window switch ground wire to provide ground once the rpm is at 3k

COS5 is set to pull timing only after 3k, so it would work simultaneously. However I would like to be able to know that the system is fully operational and pulling timing without having to run the N20, plus I have the unused switch available so why not.

.

There is nothing wrong with redundancy!!
I always use 2 TPSS, I use 2 solenoid relays, I use 2 triggers.
Electric stuff fails, that way I know I won't lose a round due to a $5 part.

Exactly, no reason not to use it if I have the extra switch.

I would feel safer running it independently. Plus it would be easier to troubleshoot in case something goes wrong.

Thanks for your help everyone
