Default How to make solenoid bracket hole bigger?

So I'm trying to put a 3/8 bolt through my mounting hole and it's just a little to big. I tried using a drill to drill through and make the hole bigger, but everytime I try it just bends the metal and crimps my bracket up (the metal cheap flimzy ****). Any other good way to make the hole wider?

You'll have to clamp it down somehow. You can also use a drill bit, but in reverse. Takes a while, but should work and won't grab a hold of the metal like it normally des.

Like suggested above, Clamp it in a vice.

I tried clamping it the first time and it still kept twisting the metal so I put it in the vise and than clamped the other side to a peice of metal with vise grips and finally got it to go through without bending it. Thanks for all the replies!

Use a dremel instead.

Where are you trying to mount the solenoids? There is no bolt I know of on an f-body that will be too big to fit that bracket. Unless you are trying to mount that bracket to the brake caliper or k-member or something

Use the Nitrous Outlet specific bracket so you don't have to use those cheap brackets on the car.

The bolt that goes to the front of the engine block is 3/8. Where my egr used to be. I'm mounting it there trying to hide it better.
